Two held for kidnapping Ludhiana businessman

The Jammu police have arrested two persons who had allegedly kidnapped a Ludhiana-based real estate businessman at gunpoint from a hotel in the city.
According to the police, a complaint was lodged with the Nowabad police station on August 14 by Sunny Gill of Ludhiana, who was staying in a hotel and was in Jammu in connection with real estate business, that he was kidnapped by two persons, Balbir Singh, owner of Bawa Tour & Travels, and his associates at gunpoint on August 13 night.
“The complainant was kept confined in the house of Balbir Singh at Amar Colony, Camp Gol Gujral Road. Balbir Singh threatened him to pay Rs 10 lakh or face dire consequences. The accused persons extorted Rs 50,000 from the complainant. On the following day, the complainant, fearing threat to his life, escaped from the place of confinement by jumping from the first floor of the building and brought the matter into the notice of police,” a police spokesperson said.
A case was registered at the Nowabad police station. A team, headed by SHO, Nowabad, Inspector Deepak Jasrotia and assisted by SI Kali Charan arrested the kidnappers, who were identified as Balbir Singh and Gurdeep Singh of Aman Vihar, Munshi Chak Camp Gole Gujral Road.
On the disclosure of Balbir Singh, the police recovered an Innova car, 0.32-bore revolver along with five cartridges, Rs 50,000 extortion money and DVR of CCTV installed at the house of Balbir Singh.
