Sunderbani College relocated to new building on Jammu highway
In a major relief to over 600 students, Sunderbani College officially moved to the newly constructed building at Thanda Pani along the Jammu-Rajouri Highway. This relocation helps students in the border block of Sunderbani, Rajouri District, who faced challenges with space and facilities.
The new campus provides an improved environment for students, who had previously been attending classes in a local middle school in the city. The transition to Thanda Pani has alleviated many of the space issues faced by students and faculty alike, marking a positive shift in the college’s facilities and infrastructure.
Further construction for separate boys and girls hostel is also underway, along with a playground to support extracurricular activities.
Jasbir, a student in the college said that that they used to have many problems, especially not having a ground for activities, but now the facilities have improved due to the new building.
“Before we used to have many problems, but now the problems are finished, now there are many students who come to school from many areas. Our biggest problem was not having a ground for us, but now we like the facilities, they are much better than before,” he said.
Riya Sharma, another student said that the facilities have improved quite a lot from the older building, and that the students don’t face any problems with transportation anymore.
“I have taken an admission this year in this college...Now the facilities have improved a lot from before. Like the ground is getting developed, the classrooms are really good here, before there weren’t as many facilities. There is a separate library which students can use for studying. We also don’t face much problem of transportation as nearby you can get transport easily,” she told ANI.
However, she also hoped that a science and commerce stream of subjects should be offered in the college for students so people can study locally instead of having to go out of station.
“One demand is that there is no science stream in this college, no commerce stream, so those things should be offered so that the local kids here do not need to go out of the station to study those subjects. A lot of students have to go outside to study science. We hope that these streams come soon enough,” she added.
These developments are part of a broader effort to enhance the educational environment and attract more students from the surrounding areas.
Additional construction is also planned for expansion, with other sections of the college infrastructure being developed to keep pace with the growing needs of students. The college administration aims to improve the academic facilities, aiming to offer a comprehensive educational experience for students in the region.
