Shooting stones kill two pilgrims at Shiv Khori
Jammu, August 8
Two pilgrims were killed while another got injured when shooting stones hit them at the Shiv Khori cave shrine in Reasi district on Monday. The incident occurred at around 3 pm when the pilgrims were standing in a queue outside the shrine waiting for their turn. All of a sudden, boulders began falling, killing two persons and injuring one. The injured was taken to a local health centre.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives. The injured would be given Rs 50,000. The administration stated it would bear the cost of treatment.
Reasi Deputy Commissioner Babila Rakwal confirmed two deaths. The deceased were Sarwant Sahani of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and Nirmal Singh of Khawas in Rajouri district.
