The All-India Sainik Schools National Games Group-A Sports and Cultural Meet 2024, concluded on Saturday amidst much fanfare and celebration at Sainik School, Nagrota.

Defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said the grand closing ceremony was attended by J&K DGP RR Swain, who presided over the event as the chief guest.

The spokesperson said the event, which witnessed intense competition among eight Sainik Schools from Group-A, included participants from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The concluding ceremony was marked by a march past, showcasing the discipline and spirit of the young cadets, who represented their respective schools with pride.

The chief guest congratulating all participants for their dedication, sportsmanship and the spirit of camaraderie they exhibited throughout the meet and emphasised the importance of such events in fostering unity, discipline and a competitive spirit among the future leaders of the nation.

During the four-day event, a wide array of sports and cultural competitions were held, culminating in the presentation of medals and trophies to the victorious teams and individual players by the chief guest. Sainik School, Nagrota, made its mark by lifting the coveted volleyball trophy for the second consecutive year. Meanwhile, Sainik School, Kunjpura, and Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, emerged victorious in the basketball and hockey championships, respectively, the spokesperson said.
