Ramban mishap: Baglihar dam gates to be closed to trace missing passengers

The Ramban district administration has decided to close two gates of the Baglihar dam for an hour to help find nine passengers who drowned in the Chenab after a Tempo Traveller rolled down into the gushing river in the Mehar area of Ramban district a couple of days ago.
“Baglihar #dam alert. Two out of three gates of the dam will be closed for an hour from 1200 Noon to carry out rescue operation of Mehar accident. Public is warned to stay away from banks of river #Chenab as levels will vary quickly,” tweeted Deputy Commissioner Ramban Nazim Zai Khan.

Sources said the rescue operation would be carried out with the help of Army divers, SDRF and QRTs of police and local volunteers.
On August 31, nine persons were feared dead after a tempo traveller rolled down into the mighty Chenab river in the vulnerable Mehar area of Ramban district.
