Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, paid a surprise late-night visit to Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri, in a bid to ensure the effective functioning of healthcare services, according to official spokesperson on Saturday, adding that it , led to the “identification of several gaps that require immediate action.”

“The visit, aimed at reviewing the emergency services, maternal and child healthcare, and overall hospital operations,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

During his thorough end-to-end inspection, the Rajouri Deputy Commissioner “closely examined the facilities being provided to patients and interacted with both staff and visitors to understand their concerns.”

“While acknowledging the hospital’s critical role in serving the population of Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi districts, he stressed that government health services must be delivered efficiently and with compassion,” the spokesperson said.

The DC inspected various wards and the emergency department, identifying areas where improvements are necessary and emphasized the need for the hospital administration to focus on the gaps and directed swift action against any dereliction of duty by the staff, the statement said.

“The Medical Superintendent was directed to ensure the availability of doctors as per the roster and to implement a more efficient duty management system, especially in critical areas like the emergency ward, to avoid any disruption in services,” the spokesperson said.
