Jammu, August 28

J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina on Wednesday faced backlash from party workers, who held a protest in Katra over the removal of Rohit Dubey’s name as the party candidate for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat in Reasi.

Dubey’s name had appeared in the initial list released by the BJP, which was later withdrawn. In the revised list, his name was replaced with former MLA Baldev Raj Sharma.

In Katra, Dubey’s supporters came out on the roads and blocked the highway outside the newly set up party office to protest the party’s decision to field Sharma in his place. As Ravinder Raina reached the party office to soothe the situation, hundreds of angry party workers confronted him, who were seeking an explanation for denying ticket to Dubey and replacing him with Sharma. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat is going to polls in the second phase on September 25.
