Protest in Valley against rape-murder of Kolkata doctor

Doctors and students of various hospitals in Kashmir on Saturday protested against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. The incident has triggered massive protests across the country.
In Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital, the routine OPD services were shut due to the protests which were held amid rainfall. The doctors and medical students carried posters, and demanded strict action against the accused.
Doctors and students from the government medical college held a protest on Saturday. “We are not doing any routine work today,” said a doctor. “We want justice for the doctors and the need of the hour is to strengthen the safety of doctors across the country.”
Protests were also held in SKIMS in Srinagar. One of the doctors said it was the duty of all doctors to support the demands and protest against the brutal incident in Kolkata.
On Saturday, protests were also held in the medical college, Handwara, with the protesters demanding strict action. “Stop violence. I don’t want to be the next victim,” read a placard.
