Policeman shot dead in J-K’s Anantnag

A policeman was shot at and killed by suspected militants on Sunday night, here in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.
Head Constable Manzoor Ahmad Dar, a resident of Hiller, Dooru in Anantnag district, was at his house when the incident took place at around 9.30 pm.
As senior police official from Anantnag confirmed the killing and said the militants barged into Dar’s house and shot at him multiple times.
“He was rushed to a nearby hospital and then to Government Medical College Hospital in Anantnag. He, however, succumbed on way to the hospital,” the police official said.
Dar was presently posted at police station Larnoo in Kokernag area of Anantnag district as ‘munshi’.
Following the incident, a huge contingent of security forces reached the area and cordoned it off. Searches were being carried out to try and nab the attackers.
