Police hold meetings to boost intel
In the wake of rising terror incidents and drug smuggling in Jammu region, the J&K police have started building ties with the community to strengthen its intelligence network on ground.
In this regard, multiple meetings were held by senior officials of J&K police in Rajouri which is located along Line of Control (LoC).
The meetings were held in Manyal and Shahdra Sharif areas of Thanamandi sub-division, Rajouri district.
DIG, Rajouri-Poonch police range, Tejinder Singh, SSP Rajouri Randeep Kumar and other senior officers attended the meeting.
Locals attending these twin meetings raised concerns seeking action against drug peddling, checking damage of crops by wild animals.
Tejinder Singh assured that police are taking strict action, arresting peddlers, and booking them under PSA and Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988.
He urged public cooperation to eradicate this menace and remain vigilant against anti-national elements
The DIG while addressing the meetings said that action against drug peddlers is being taken with iron hands and a number of them have been booked and arrested in Thanamandi division in recent months with more than eighteen peddlers have also been booked under PSA and PIT NDPS and action will remain continue.
The DIG called for constructive cooperation of society in eradication of this evil. Locals were further informed that all their grievances and demands pertaining to civil administration will be raised accordingly with quarters concerned while those concerning police will be resolved at the earliest.
