They said multiple raids were carried out in various villages of Pattan and at least two houses of businessmen were searched for many hours. The NIA sleuths were accompanied by Central Armed Police Force and J&K Police personnel.

“The raids were conducted in connection with the terror funding case,” an official said. “The investigators also seized some documents,” he said.

The NIA had registered the J&K terror funding case in 2017 against militants and other separatist leaders in J&K for raising, receiving and collecting funds for funding separatist and militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA have so far arrested more than two dozen separatist leaders and businessmen in the Valley in the case of terrorist funding.

Meanwhile, two suspected militant associates were arrested in north Kashmir’s Handwara sub-district.

The police said the two were identified as Nazir Ahmed Wani and Bashir Ahmed Wani, both residents of Sheikhpora Tarathpora, Vilgam. They were arrested at a checkpoint established near the Kralgund-Ananwan Hajan crossing.

“Incriminating material, arms, including AK rifle, Chinese pistol and UBGL, and a huge cache of ammunition were recovered from their possession,” a police spokesman said.

The police have registered a case and further investigation in the matter is in progress.
