Militant associate held in north Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a militant associate in North Kashmir, said a police spokesperson.

He said on specific information, Handwara Police established a checkpoint at Unisoo and apprehended a terrorist associate, identified as Ishfaq Majeed, a resident of Sopore.

During his search, a mobile phone and banned posters were recovered from his possession.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections and the investigation is underway.

“This operation further ascertains the continued efforts of Handwara Police against anti-national elements by thwarting a potentially grave terrorist incident in Handwara,” the police spokesperson said.

“The police and security forces welcome any such actionable inputs from the general public and assure swift action as per law.”
