Man crushed to death by speeding truck in Jammu

A man died after being hit by a speeding truck in Jammu on Sunday, police said. The accused driver Gurdeep Singh, from Rajasthan, was arrested within two hours, they said.
A police official informed that information was received at Narwal police post that an unidentified truck that was over speeding crushed a pedestrian.
The victim, Kali Charan died on the spot when he was hit by the truck near his house at Rajeev Chowk near Narwal bypass this morning, a police spokesperson said. The accused fled from the spot. A case under Sections 281, 106 BNS was registered and a special team was constituted under the supervision of SDPO City East and SHO Bahu Fort police station.
“After hectic efforts and with the help of CCTV footage and human intelligence, the accused driver, identified as Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, was arrested and vehicle bearing registration number RJ13GC-8888 was seized within two hours of the accident,” the official informed.
