Leh Hill council chairman interacts with members of Bar Association
Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, chairman Tashi Gyalson convened an interaction and deliberation session with the members of the Bar Association, Leh, at the DC Conference Hall.
The meeting was attended by Bar Association president Mohd Shafi Lassu along with senior advocates and other association members.
Lassu expressed gratitude to the chairman for facilitating the session, commending his proactive efforts in resuming dialogue on the Ladakh issue with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). He emphasized that the Bar Association has strong faith in the CEC’s leadership to carry forward these discussions in a productive manner, keeping Ladakh’s broader interests in mind.
During the session, the Bar Association submitted a memorandum of demands which includes the establishment of a High Court Circuit Bench in Leh, provision and transfer of land for an advocate colony, reservation of seats for Ladakh’s Bar & Bench members in the recently allocated additional post of judges in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and Advocate Welfare Fund, among other concerns.
The meeting held an extensive discussion on each of the important issues with inputs from all attendees. Gyalson appreciated the active engagement of the Bar Association members and acknowledged their significant contributions to Ladakh’s development. He assured the association that he would strive to address the points raised in the memorandum favourably.
The CEC also assured financial support for books for the Bar Association members.
