L-G visits Pashmina dehairing plant in Leh
Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor Brig BD Mishra (retd) along with his wife Neelam Mishra visited the Pashmina dehairing plant at Industrial Estate in Leh.
Director, Sheep Husbandry, Dr Iftikhar Hussain informed the L-G that the installation of the dehairing plant machine has been completed after the successful training of the technicians to make the machine functional. They informed the L-G about the trial run and commissioning of the plant.
Brig Mishra was informed about the process of dehairing of Pashmina wool. He was also informed that the plant has augmented capacity to process 10 kg dehaired pashmina per hour and would prove beneficial to pashmina goat herders and artisans of Ladakh.
The officials informed that the production capacity has increased from 1.5 kg to 10 kg per hour and the quality of the dehaired pashmina is better with fewer flakes, guard hair and longer fiber length.
The L-G commended the officials of Sheep Husbandry and All Changthang Pashmina Growers Cooperative Marketing Society along with the contractor for the successful installation of the dehairing plant. He stated that the plant would save a lot of time, ensure good quality pashmina and benefit goat herders.
