IED found on Srinagar-Baramulla highway
The Army on Monday averted a major terror incident after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered on the Srinagar- Baramulla national highway.
Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said on Monday that IED was recovered and diffused at National Highway-1.
Officials said a joint patrolling party of police and Army found a suspicious object by the roadside on the highway at Palhallan in Pattan area of Baramulla district. The area was cordoned off and the traffic was halted temporarily on the National Highway as a precautionary measure.
Officials said a bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot and the suspicious object taken to an isolated place. The bomb disposal squad destroyed the object in a controlled explosion, the officials said, adding there was no damage done.
“Chinar Warriors and Jammu and Kashmir Police averted a major terror incident today by recovering and destroying an IED on National Highway-1 near Palhallan, Baramulla,” Chinar Corps wrote on X. “Indian Army remains resolute in its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free.”
The traffic was restored on the highway later, according to the officials.
