Srinagar, August 30

To boost awareness among the electorate and the participation of youth in the Assembly election, the Election Department on Friday organised an awareness programme in Jammu.

Officials said the event was organised at a college in Jammu under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.

“The programme focused around the critical importance of voter participation, especially the first-time voters among the youth,” said a statement.

It said officials expressed confidence that this initiative would significantly improve voter awareness, particularly among first-time voters, marginalised communities and rural areas, fostering greater inclusivity and positively contributing to the democratic process.

During the programme, the booth-level officer (BLO) shared and discussed innovative ideas and strategic plans which would significantly increase voter participation in the Assembly elections which are scheduled to be held across the UT in three phases commencing on September 18.
