Govternment committed to welfare of Kashmiri Pandits: Chief Secy

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Saturday reaffirmed the government was commitment to providing adequate amenities to Kashmiri Pandits. Dulloo visited the Jagti Migrant Camp to assess available facilities and address the concerns of camp residents.

Accompanied by Principal Secretary (Home) and other senior officials, Dulloo inspected the Sub-District hospital and the hovernment secondary school located within the camp. He reviewed the services provided and interacted with staff to ensure operational efficiency.

During the hospital visit, he directed authorities to initiate general anaesthesia (GA)-based surgeries immediately and improve healthcare delivery to reduce patient referrals. He stressed upgrading public services to cater to the needs of local residents and camp dwellers.

At the school, he reviewed staffing and the range of subjects taught, emphasising the need for proper maintenance and adequate teaching resources to ensure quality education.

In a public grievances camp held during the visit, he assured residents of the government’s dedication to resolving their concerns. He encouraged them to register under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) to access additional social security and central government scheme benefits.

“The digitisation of migrant credentials will enable enumeration under various government schemes, including PM-KISAN,” Dulloo said, adding that the government was actively working to extend these benefits to eligible migrants. He highlighted the role of the Relief Commissioner as a key liaison for addressing grievances.

Principal Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Chandraker Bharti reiterated the government’s efforts to modernise services for migrants, while Relief Commissioner Arvind Karwani shared updates on infrastructure development. Karwani informed that 4,224 flats had been constructed for 5,131 families, alongside 53 parks and 10 community halls. He also announced plans to construct a two-story community hall at a cost of Rs 6.34 crore.
