Five booked under Public Safety Act in Kishtwar
To ensure proper law and order, including safety and security of the public, Kishtwar District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Shavan has slapped Public Safety Act on five hardcore criminals.
Those booked under the provision of the J&K Public Safety Act, 1978, include Mohd Abdullah Gujjar, a resident of Sigdi Bhata, Noor Din, a resident of Kakerwagan, Ghulam Nabi Choppan, a resident of Trungi (Dachhan), Mohd Jaffer Sheikh, a resident of Nattas, (Dool), and Mohd Ramzan, a resident of Dangduroo (Dachhan).
They are known to have made attempts to stop projects of national importance, including highways and hydel projects.
It is pertinent to mention that the DM after taking over the charge of the district had announced that no leniency will be shown to the goons and criminals to curb the menace of repeated crimes for ensuring security of the state and maintain proper public order.
Those booked under PSA are having anti-national and anti-social records and were not desisting from their illegal acts, said the official spokesperson.
“There were apprehensions of disturbing public order and putting threat to the security of the state by them. The arrest warrants were issued, directing the SSP for execution. As soon as the warrants were received, the police took them under custody and executed the warrants,” the spokesperson added.
He further said the DM has asked the agencies to keep such persons on the radar who always make attempts to stop the projects of the national importance on one or the other pretext as deep rooted conspiracy and nexus to sabotage the national interest. “They try to disturb the public order by false propaganda and keeping an anti-national attitude of slowing pace of mega projects,” the official said.
It is important to mention here that Kishtwar is a sensitive place in terms of the security scenario, where terror attacks have taken place 3-4 times in the recent past.
