Drug peddler’s property worth lakhs seized in Anantnag
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday attached a residential property worth Rs 50 lakh, belonging to notorious drug peddler Ghulam Hassan Bandro, a resident of Sotkipora in Anantnag district.
“This action was carried out by Srigufwara Police Station as part of the ongoing intensified efforts to combat the drug menace,” the police said.
Police said the accused is a habitual offender and has a history of involvement in drug trafficking and has been implicated in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“These cases highlight his repeated attempts to undermine societal well-being through illegal activities,” the police said.
Meanwhile, Srinagar Police have seized vehicle from two drug peddlers—Asif Ahmad Sheikh and Arif Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Babapora Barthana.
“Both the accused persons have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized,” the police said.
Police said during financial investigation of the case, it came to fore that the vehicle was acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade by these accused persons. “The seizure of vehicle has been made under the provisions of Section 68 of the NDPS Act,” the police said.
