Principal Secretary, Information, Rohit Kansal, who is also the government spokesperson, on Friday released an advisory for all district commissioners and superintendents of police to caution all religious leaders not to call any gathering as these were the major source of potential threat of Covid-19.

The Principal Secretary wrote on Twitter: “#JammuAndKashmir#Fightagainst Corona -DCs and SPs advised to strictly caution all religious leaders not to call any gathering. Public gatherings a major source of social contact and spread of the virus.”

Meanwhile, no congregational Friday prayers were held at mosques in the region as people offered prayers at their homes.

A resident of Sunjwan, Malik Masood, said: “We fully support the 21-day lockdown against the deadly Covid-19 as we want our families to be safe and healthy.”
