Dismantle terror ecosystem, tighten security around key infra projects: J&K L-G Sinha
After the Ganderbal terror attack, J&K Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha directed the police on Wednesday to tighten security measures around key infrastructure projects and construction camps in the union territories.
The L-G held a review meeting in Srinagar at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday on the security situation in Kashmir Division. He further directed a security audit of infrastructure projects, round-the-clock nakas at strategic points, night patrolling and area domination.
"The police must ensure robust security and intelligence grid and intensified, well-planned joint operation with the Army and other security agencies to eliminate terrorism," he said.
DGP Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary (Home Department) Chandraker Bharti; Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Vijay Kumar; Additional DGP (CID) Nitish Kumar; IGP, Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi; Principal Secretary to L-G, Dr Mandeep Bhandari; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, and other senior officials of J&K Police attended the meeting.
The direction comes after a doctor, designer and five construction workers were killed in a horrific terror attack in the Ganderbal district.
Sinha had announced that Rs 6 lakh would be given to the next of kin of each martyred civilian. Additionally, Rs 15 lakh would be provided as an immediate measure by APCO Infratech company. An ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh was also announced to all the injured.
He called for strict action against perpetrators of terrorism. "The entire terror ecosystem, including perpetrators and those aiding and abetting terrorists, requires to be completely dismantled," Sinha added.
