CM directs ministers to address unemployment
With rising unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during a cabinet meeting on Friday directed his Ministers to address the issue of unemployment on priority.
In a statement, Omar said, “During the meeting, I directed my cabinet colleagues to take necessary departmental actions within their ministries to fulfil the promises outlined in the manifesto, with a strong emphasis on addressing unemployment.”
Cabinet meeting chaired by Omar Abdullah also approved Lieutenant Governor’s speech in the Assembly session. Minister for Jal Shakti and Forests, Javed Ahmed Rana while interacting with the media said that during the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasised the urgency of addressing unemployment terming it a grave issue that demands immediate action.
Rana said that as part of the government’s strategy, job vacancies have already been referred to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Service Selection Board (SSB).
He said that government will ensure that advertisements for these posts are issued within a fixed time frame so that the youth are able to apply for them.
Rana said, “The CM has instructed all ministers to prioritise addressing unemployment within their respective departments. They should start their exercise. As part of our 100-day agenda, we are committed to presenting concrete measures within the next two months.” He emphasised that tackling unemployment was a significant promise in the election manifesto and the government was committed to fulfilling it.
Rana said with regard to the welfare measures, the CM has directed the Ministers to swiftly act to ensure implementation in letter and spirit.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, other ministers and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo were present during the meeting.
