Central Government creates 5 new districts in Ladakh
New Delhi, August 26
The Centre on Monday created five new districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh, thus taking the total number of districts to seven.
The five newly created districts are Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang.
The two existing districts of the Union Territory are Leh and Kargil.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the decision of the Centre through a post on X.
“In pursuit of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision to build a developed and prosperous Ladakh, the MHA has decided to create five new districts in the union territory. The new districts, namely Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang, will take the benefits meant for the people to their doorsteps by bolstering governance in every nook and cranny,” Shah said in the post
“The Modi government is committed to creating abundant opportunities for the people of Ladakh,” he further added.
