Rattan Lal Gupta, provincial president of the J&K National Conference, criticised the BJP’s manifesto for J&K, terming it a “bundle of lies” designed to mislead and deceive the people of the region.

The senior NC leader was speaking during a programme held in Jammu where people leaving several political outfits prefer to join the National Conference.

Responding to promises made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gupta criticised the BJP for offering false hopes. He pointed out that despite being in power at both Centre and in J&K, the BJP failed to fulfill the basic needs of the people.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
