Jammu, August 11
Amid targeted killing of the party leaders in the Kashmir valley, the J&K BJP on Tuesday decided to send a high-level delegation to Delhi after August 15 to brief the Union Government about the prevailing security scenario in the UT.
The decision to send the delegation was taken at an emergency core group meeting of the party held this morning to discuss the recent attacks on the party leaders in the Valley.
“Instead of relying on the feedback of bureaucrats, we have decided to send our own delegation to Delhi after August 15 to inform the Union Government about the ground situation in the Valley,” a senior BJP leader, who attended the meeting, told The Tribune.
The leader said the core group members were unanimous that bureaucracy was not giving feedback about the real ground situation to the Centre. “After the recent selective killings, many of our demoralised workers have tendered their resignation from the party,” he said, adding that despite assurance by the party leadership, most of the workers were living with a sense of insecurity.
Sources said the BJP, general secretary, organisation, Ashok Koul, was in touch with the Valley-based leaders to boost their morale, besides coordinating with the administration to ensure the safety of the workers.
