Tragedy struck in Akhnoor on Monday as 'Phantom', an Indian Army dog, was killed during a search operation.

The Belgian Malinois dog, who was just four years old, drew enemy fire while helping troops close in on trapped terrorists, sustaining fatal injuries.

Born on May 25, 2020, he was trained as an assault dog at the RVC Centre in Meerut and joined the Indian Army on August 12, 2022.

The Indian Army paid tribute to Phantom, saying, “We salute the supreme sacrifice of our true hero... His courage, loyalty, and dedication will never be forgotten.”
