Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya chaired a meeting on Friday to review progress under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a Central Government scheme that provides subsidised solar power solutions to residential households.

During the meeting, Vaishya emphasised the need to make the initiative a success and directed officials to conduct awareness camps across all sub-divisions to educate the public about the scheme’s benefits. Stressing equitable outreach, he instructed officers to ensure the scheme reaches every village, leaving no household unaware. He called for close coordination among the departments for smooth and effective implementation.

The meeting discussed key aspects such as eligibility criteria and application procedures. BDOs and Tehsildars were directed to collaborate with stakeholders to maximum public benefit.

The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana aims to provide financial relief to households by subsidising rooftop solar installations. Under the scheme, households are eligible for 60 percent subsidy on solar systems up to 2kW capacity and 40 percent subsidy on the additional system cost for installation of 2 to 3kW capacity. The subsidy is capped at a maximum of 3kW.

This initiative not only reduces electricity bills but also promotes environmental sustainability.
