Adviser reviews road safety, orders steps to check mishaps
The Adviser to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Pawan Kotwal chaired a meeting to review the action taken report by the departments concerned regarding the cause of the school bus accident which took place at Durbuk in Leh, in which seven persons were killed and 21 got injured on August 22. The meeting was held at the Leh Civil Secretariat.
The meeting discussed several initiatives and actions taken by the concerned departments, regarding the cause of the school bus accident, aimed to submit a full-fledged report to the Supreme Court Committee of Road Safety.
During the review, the Adviser emphasised that real time speed detectors be installed which can monitor the speed of the vehicles. He directed the concerned officials to complete it till December 30. To control the accidents in Ladakh, he directed the officials to take preventive steps in accidental prone areas, install camera surveillance and go tough against traffic violators.
Meanwhile, Kotwal also chaired a meeting regarding the submission of the action taken report of the minutes of the meeting held on July 21 last year under the chairmanship of the Union Home Secretary. The meeting was aimed to review the apportionment related issues between Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Administrative Secretary, General Administration Department, Michael D’Souza provided a comprehensive power point presentation, covering key issues related to apportionment of posts, assets and liabilities, apportionment of employees, requirement of manpower, apportionment of assets of Corporations / PSUs, requirement of employees of autonomous bodies working in the Ladakh.
“During the meeting, it was informed that apportionment of posts has been completed, and as on date, 14,686 employees have been apportioned to Ladakh. These meetings are continuing since Ladakh was carved out of J&K as a separate UT in 2019. The meeting signifies importance of cooperation and collaboration between the two UTs to effectively resolve pending issues and streamline administrative processes” an official spokesperson said.
