20,000 polling staff deployed at 5,060 booths in 7 dists for Ph-III
Over 20,000 polling staff have been deployed at 5,060 polling stations across seven district of Jammu and Kashmir, which will go to the polls on Tuesday.
40 Assembly constituencies
The third phase of the elections will cover 40 Assembly constituencies in seven districts. These include Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora in the Kashmir division and Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Samba in the Jammu division.
As many as 39.18 lakh voters will decide the fate of 415 candidates in the third and last phase of the J&K Assembly elections.
The third phase of the elections will cover 40 Assembly constituencies in seven districts. These include Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora in the Kashmir division and Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Samba in the Jammu division.
The Baramulla Assembly segment of North Kashmir leads with the highest 25 candidates in the fray, while the Akhnoor Assembly constituency of Jammu district will witness contest among three candidates only.
As many as 16 Assembly constituencies comprising Karnah, Trehgam, Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara, Langate, Sopore, Rafiabad, Uri, Baramulla, Gulmarg, Wagoora-Kreeri, Pattan, Sonawari, Bandipora and Gurez (ST), and in Jammu Division 24 Assembly Constituencies comprising Udhampur West, Udhampur East, Chenani, Ramnagar (SC), Bani, Billawar, Basohli, Jasrota, Kathua (SC), Hiranagar, Ramgarh (SC), Samba, Vijaypur, Bishnah (SC), Suchetgarh (SC), R.S.Pura–Jammu South, Bahu, Jammu East, Nagrota, Jammu West, Jammu North, Marh (SC), Akhnoor (SC) and Chhamb will go to the polls in the Kashmir division.
According to the latest electoral rolls, 39,18,220 voters, including 20,09,033 male, 19,09,130 female and 57 third gender, are eligible to cast their ballots in the third phase.
In the third phase, as many as 109 candidates are in fray in Jammu district, followed by 101 in Baramulla, 59 in Kupwara, 42 in Bandipora, 37 in Udhampur, 35 in Kathua district and 32 in Samba district.
In Udhampur district, 12 candidates are in fray in Udhampur West AC, nine in Udhampur East, nine in Chenani, and seven in Ramnagar (SC).
In Kathua district, eight candidates are contesting from Bani, four from Billawar, four from Basohli, eight from Jasrota, five from Kathua (SC) and six from Hiranagar.
In Samba district, seven candidates are in fray in Ramgarh (SC), 14 in Samba and 11 in Vijaypur.
In Jammu district, nine candidates are in fray in Bishnah (SC), 11 in Suchetgarh (SC), 14 in RS Pura-Jammu South, 12 in Bahu, nine in Jammu East, eight in Nagrota, 12 in Jammu West, 17 in Jammu North, six in Marh (SC), three in Akhnoor (SC) and eight in Chhamb.
In Kashmir division’s Kupwara district, eight candidates are contesting from Karnah, 10 from Trehgam, eight from Kupwara, 11 from Lolab, seven from Handwara and 15 from Langate. In Baramulla district, 20 candidates are in fray in Sopore, 12 in Rafiabad, six in Uri, 25 in Baramulla, 13 in Gulmarg, 12 in Wagoora-Kreeri and 13 in Pattan.
In Bandipora district, 18 candidates are in fray in Sonawari, 19 in Bandipora and five in Gurez (ST).
