Chandigarh: The Punjab Government on Thursday appointed ADGP Ishwar Singh as the Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, relieving DGP BK Uppal of the charge. Abohar: The police have seized 80 kg poppy husk and 200 gm opium after intercepting three trucks on their way back to Punjab from Rajasthan. Man held for raping minor
Faridkot: A 35-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his nine-year-old stepdaughter at Golewala village here. The police later arrested Jagdev Singh who had married the minor’s mother three years ago. TNS

Sangrur: The bhog ceremony of CRPF commando Varinder Singh (25), who was killed in an encounter with Maoists in Sukma district of Chattisgarh last week, was held at Lehra town here on Thursday. “The government will provide all help to the family,” said Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, vice-chairman, Punjab State Planning Board.
