Inspection conducted to check illegal construction, sanitation
After officials were directed to ensure cleanliness and take action against illegal constructions, Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal and Ludhiana South MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina conducted surprise inspection on Monday.
The inspection was conducted in areas falling under Zone B and C of the MC and necessary directions were issued to the officials concerned for implementing the directive.
Starting at 8 am, the MC Commissioner and the MLA remained in the field for around four hours, visiting different areas, including Sherpur Kalan, Bhagat Singh Nagar, Railway Colony, Guru Nanak Nagar, 100 feet road, Kanganwal, Village Lohara, and the Dhandari flyover.
Dachalwal said that apart from ensuring regular action against illegal constructions and ensuring cleanliness, the concerned staff has also been directed to ensure regular lifting of waste from compactor sites and proper maintenance of central verges of roads.
He further said that he would regularly monitor the situation at the ground level. He also directed senior officials, including Additional Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners to keep a check on the situation in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, acting on the directions of the MC Commissioner, the building branch of the MC Zone C took action against illegal constructions and demolished seven illegal buildings and an unauthorised colony on Monday.
Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Jagdeep Singh said the illegal buildings and colony were situated in Kanganwal and the Dhandari area. The drive against illegal constructions is expected to continue in the coming days.
