Sirsa, July 17

After the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has now thrown its weight behind the demand to give district status to Dabwali.

Members of “Make Dabwali a district” campaign committee met INLD’s secretary general Abhay Singh Chautala and urged him to support their initiative. In response, Abhay assured them that if the current BJP government fails to declare Dabwali a district, the issue will be taken up on priority as soon as the INLD-BSP coalition comes to power.

Recently, the JJP had written a letter to the committee extending support to their demand. Now, Abhay Singh Chautala has written a letter to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today, requesting declaration of Dabwali as a district. The letter highlighted the administrative challenges faced by people who have to travel around 65 km to Sirsa, which incurred significant loss of time and money.

Abhay stated that the delay in granting the district status to Dabwali, despite assurances from former Chief Minister Manohar Lal, has put its people at a disadvantage.

He said a committee formed by the government had recommended that Dabwali be made a full-fledged district, but the announcement has not materialised yet, much to the disappointment of the residents.
