Indo-Israel training on nursery, lemon crop canopy management begins in Sirsa
A three-day Indo-Israel training programme on nursery and lemon crop canopy management was inaugurated at the Fruit Excellence Centre, Mangeana, Sirsa. Dr Satbir Sharma, Deputy Director of Horticulture and Centre in-Charge, welcomed the officials attending the training programme and provided detailed information on various schemes being implemented at the centre for the benefit of farmers, as well as the modern techniques used in the nursery and orchard areas.
Dr Rinku, the subject matter expert and nursery in-charge, gave a presentation on plant preparation and management in the nursery sector. Dr Ramesh Kumar Saggi, Dr Ramesh Kumar Chapola, Dr Rinku Rani, Horticulture Supervisor Dr Shivani and Horticulture Development Officer Dr Anuj Godara were also present at the centre to guide the participants.
The training session saw the arrival of 27 officials from the Horticulture Departments of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh. The visiting officials were welcomed by Yuvall Elazar, head of the Engineering Department from Shefayim Agricultural Training Centre, Uri Rubinstein, Agricultural Attaché, and Dr Brahmdev, Project Officer from the Israel Embassy.
During the training, Uri Rubinstein shared his insights on mechanised canopy management in Israel with the trainers. Dr Shivendu Pratap Singh Solanki and Dr Hemant Kumar, the Agricultural Officers from Kota, Rajasthan, discussed their thoughts on training, pruning management and techniques for lemon and pomegranate crops.
The session aimed at enhancing the skills of horticulture officers in managing lemon crops and nurseries using advanced techniques.
