Parliamentary disruptions continued on Thursday and both Houses were adjourned until 2 pm after BJP and Congress clashed over remarks against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, whom the Opposition on Wednesday had accused of acting as a government spokesperson.

The BJP countered the opposition Congress in Rajya Sabha with Leader of the House J P Nadda accusing Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge of disrespecting parliamentary procedures by repeatedly skipping meetings called by chairman in his chamber to resolve the logjam in the Upper House.

Nadda again questioned the Congress over links with Hungarian-American businessman George Soros and his anti-India agenda. When Kharge was not allowed to speak, the Rajya Sabha erupted into chaos leading to Dhankhar adjoining the proceedings till 2 pm.

The Opposition kept raising the issue of its notice against the chairman for moving a motion to remove him. The notice is under the consideration of Rajya Sabha’s deputy chairman Harivansh.

Lok Sabha, which otherwise functioned smoothly during question hour, also witnessed an adjournment after BJP's Nishikant Dubey questioned the Congress top brass association with Soros.

Outside the Parliament, Nadda accused the Congress of spreading anarchy and chaos and said the Congress wanted to create a situation where it becomes difficult to function in a parliamentary democracy.

“Mallikarjun Kharge had ample opportunity to raise his issues. But he did not attend the meeting which RS chairman called in his chamber. He did not attend the Rajya Sabha business advisory committee meeting also,” Nadda said after the Upper House was adjourned.

He said the V-P is a constitutional position but Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha (Rahul Gandhi) is videotaping a TMC leader's mimicry of the V-P and instigating him to repeat the act.

“I remembered my college days. These people have disregarded parliamentary democracy. They have disrespected conventions. They tore up papers, climbed chairs. Congress wants to deviate and divert the issue.

“The issue is the country is disturbed that one person named George Soros is working to disturb national stability, is questioning sovereignty of India and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is co-chair of a forum of countries he funds. We are asking what is her relation with Soros?” asked Nadda.
