‘Why’s India distancing from China?’: Chinese Embassy’s pitches for direct flight resumption with India
New Delhi, July 25
The Chinese Embassy in India on Thursday made a public pitch for resumption of flights between India and China.
“Sharing a video clip made by a Chinese media based on their research and data sources. They cannot help but ask: why is India distancing itself from China?” the Chinese embassy said.
The video the embassy handle posted on X said India stopped direct commercial flights from China in 2020 has since not restored despite China expressing repeated hope of positive movement.
“The shortest flight between Beijing and India is 11 hours as nearly 2000 km are added when someone flies from Beijing to Delhi via Hong Kong or Middle East. India issued 200000 visas to Chinese citizens in 2019 and only 3000 in 2023. India received 340000 Chinese tourists in 2019 and less than 12000 in 2022. Chinese investments in India have been the lowest in the past four years,” the video said.
