Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov today said Russia was ready to sit and talk, but there is not much ground for negotiation on ending the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Alipov said Ukraine was ‘not ready for a peaceful resolution’.

Alipov took part in a ‘round table’ on ‘BRICS New World Order’ organised by a Russian news outlet in New Delhi.

On being asked if Russia would be ready to sit across the table and discuss with Ukraine about ending the conflict, Alipov said: “We are prepared to sit and talk, provided there is a basis for negotiations. It should include ground realities and interests of Russia from the security point of view and also protection of Ukrainian citizens of Russian origin”.

The Russian Ambassador cited the growing arsenal of weapons in Ukraine. “We see that new and more weapons are sent to Ukraine to make its position stronger against Russia. This is not an indication of negotiation. This is to aggravate the situation. Ukraine is not ready for a peaceful resolution,” he said.
