Region in Parliament: Standardisation of teachers’ contracts not on anvil: MoS
The Centre is not considering establishing any national framework for the standardisation of contracts and wages for contractual or guest teachers in the country, said MoS for Education Sukanta Majumdar in the Lok Sabha on Monday in reply to a question raised by Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi.
Gandhi had raised the issue of regularisation of contractual teachers or paying them equally for work performed by them in colleges. As per the All-India Survey on Higher Education, there were 10,81,116 permanent faculty members in public universities and colleges; and 2,43,075 faculty members on a contractual basis. In private institutions, there are 1,54,621 regular faculty members and 10,453 are working on a contractual basis.
No reply to Harsimrat’s query on Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan
Sports being a state subject, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya did not respond to MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s question on steps the government was taking to probe allegations of fraud related to Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan and the current status of earlier investigations. The development of sports was primarily the responsibility of state or UT governments, and the Centre only supplemented their efforts, the reply read.
No proposal to give fresh sops to startups, MoS tells Tewari
There was no proposal for new tax incentives or benefits for startups and emerging companies in the technology sector, said the MoS for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in reply to a question by MP Manish Tewari in the Lok Sabha. Tax incentives or benefits to start-ups are already provided under Section 80-IAC of the Income-Tax Act, 1961.
India is recognised as an IT hub with Software Technology Parks in 65 cities across the country and 57 centres in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Tejvir Singh raises query on employment generation plan
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises was assisting 26,570 units under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) during the current financial year (2024-2025), said Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje in reply to a question by MP Tejvir Singh in the Rajya Sabha.
As many as 10,553 projects are being run by women, who are employing 84,424 workers. As many as 16,014 projects being managed by men are employing 1,28,112. A total of three projects are being run by transgenders and have employed 24 persons.
Centre open to revision of MPLADS funds: Rao Inderjit
The government is open on the issue of revision of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds, said MoS for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh, in reply to a question by Harbhajan Singh.
