New Delhi, August 30

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Brunei and Singapore from September 3 to 5. He will be visiting Brunei on the invitation of ruler Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. This will be the first ever bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Brunei.

The visit coincides with 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Brunei. Brunei is one of the five countries locked in maritime dispute with China over claims in the South China Sea. Modi is slated to visit Singapore on September 4 and 5 at the invitation of his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong. The leaders will review the progress of India-Singapore strategic partnership and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
