There is no proposal to ban the manufacturing, distribution or sale of ranitidine, a medication used to reduce stomach acid, clarified Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel.

She was responding to concerns about the presence of NDMA, a potentially harmful impurity in the medicine, in Rajya Sabha. She said the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation is testing samples and state drug controllers have been told to instruct manufacturers of ranitidine API and formulations to verify and test their products. — TNS
