NIA chargesheets 4 in Rameshwaram Cafe blast case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against four accused in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Café blast case, which injured nine people and damaged property on March 1 last year. The accused, identified as Mussavir Hussain Shazib, Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taaha, Maaz Muneer Ahmed, and Muzammil Shareef, have been charged under various sections of the IPC, UA(P) Act, Explosive Substances Act, and PDLP Act.

All four of them are currently in judicial custody.

The investigation revealed that Shazib planted the bomb, and Taaha and he were absconding since 2020 after the Al-Hind module was busted. The duo was arrested from West Bengal 42 days after the blast. The accused were ISIS radicals who conspired to radicalise others and used fraudulent documents and cryptocurrencies to fund their activities.

The chargesheet is the result of an extensive investigation by the NIA, which included technical and field inquiries in coordination with state police forces and other agencies. The case is still under investigation.
