Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday said unity was the key ingredient for national growth and prosperity and it was every citizen’s duty to work to foster it.

Addressing an event marking the presentation of the first copy of “Vedarth Vigyanam” authored by Acharya Agnivrat, Dhankhar said, “It is important to attack divisive forces.”

“A nation cannot grow only on economic parameters. The growth is sustainable and lasting once there is projection of unity. It is most important for a nation, even more than the growth of its economy, that it represents a symbol of unity. It is important that we attack the divisive forces,” Dhankhar said.

He said no other country in the world had a civilisational history of 5,000 years as India.

“If anyone attempts to tarnish its reputation or tries to degrade our culture, tries to divide us and promotes destructive forces, there must be a psychological retaliation to it and this responsibility rests upon every Indian citizen,” the V-P said.
