Terming BJP’s stunning victory in Haryana as a game-changer for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections in November, the NDA top brass today sought to corner the INDIA bloc, especially the Congress, by shaping political strategies ahead of the polls.

Addressing a meeting held immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of the Haryana Government under Nayab Singh Saini, Modi emphasised on good governance and the ways to improve people’s lives. “Our alliance is committed to furthering national progress by empowering the poor and downtrodden,” the PM said.

“BJP’s victory in Haryana is game-changer. This is Modi’s wonder,” N Biren Singh, Manipur Chief Minister told reporters after the four-hour meeting. Highlighting that 17 CMs and 18 Deputy CMs attended today’s meeting, BJP president JP Nadda said the PM told the meeting that they should focus on “pro-people governance”. He said six resolutions were passed at the meeting unanimously.

A resolution by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde on the BJP victory in Haryana said: “The way INDIA bloc tried to spread lies during the Haryana polls that has been given a befitting reply.”

“The BJP got support and blessings from farmers, youth, sportspersons and common people and our seat number also increased. PM Modi was congratulated for this and people of Haryana were thanked for giving blessings,” said Nadda. He also made a special mention of Modi’s observation on the oath-taking ceremony in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday, which was held under the Indian Constitution for the first time after the Independence. This demonstrated the power of the abrogation of Article 370, Nadda said.

“Earlier, the oath-taking programmes used to take place under the J&K constitution. For the first time in Independent India under Modi’s leadership, in J&K an oath-taking programme was held under India’s Constitution. All of us noted his observation,” said Nadda. He said a proposal was put by Home Minister Amit Shah who pointed out that 50 years had passed since the imposition of Emergency.

“Democracy was murdered in 1975 with the Emergency. In 2025, we will discuss the murder of democracy. We will also expose those who murdered the Constitution and we will tell people how they tried to crush the constitution and strangulate its mool dharna (basic spirit),” he said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh moved a resolution that we will celebrate ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ of the Constitution in 2025 during which various programmes will be organised to mark 75 years of the Constitution. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar exuded confidence that after the Haryana win, the NDA would perform well in next month’s Assembly poll.
