Navy Chief to visit Indonesia to strengthen maritime ties
Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi will undertake a four-day official visit to Indonesia from December 15 to 18, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral defence ties between India and Indonesia. The visit aligns with the deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations, with a particular focus on enhancing naval cooperation.
The existing maritime collaboration between the two navies includes joint exercises, port visits and training programmes aimed at capacity-building. Currently, the 43rd India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) is underway along the International Maritime Boundary Line, running from December 10 to 18.
During his visit, Admiral Tripathi is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with senior Indonesian government and defence officials, including Defence Minister Lt Gen (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces General Agus Subiyanto and Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy Admiral Muhammad Ali.
The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of defence cooperation areas, with an emphasis on maritime security, joint training programmes and avenues for enhancing operational collaboration between the two navies.
