Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jamui, Bihar, on Friday to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, which marks the birth anniversary of tribal hero and freedom fighter Birsa Munda.

Modi’s visit will mark the commencement of the 150th birth anniversary year celebration of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, an official release said today signalling a massive tribal push by the PM in the midst of Jharkhand and Maharashtra poll cycle.

The Prime Minister will unveil a commemorative coin and postal stamp on the occasion and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects worth over Rs 6,640 crore aimed at uplifting tribal communities and improving infrastructure in rural and remote areas of the region.

Modi will also participate in the house warming ceremony of 11,000 houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), besides inaugurating 23 mobile medical units under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) to enhance healthcare access in the tribal areas. Nearly 300 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) to promote tribal entrepreneurship and 10 Eklavya Model Residential Schools, worth around Rs 450 crore, dedicated to tribal students will also be inaugurated.
