Indian Embassy in Russia comes to aid of stranded Air India passengers
New Delhi, July 19
The Indian Embassy in Russia has despatched a team of three senior officials and an interpreter that has reached on ground in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, to assist the passengers of Air India New Delhi-San Francisco flight which made emergency landing at Krasnoyarsk last night.
The embassy said the team was coordinating with the airport and security authorities and Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry to provide all possible assistance to the passengers. The team will stay on the ground in Krasnoyarsk until Air India’s replacement plane arrives and takes the passengers on their onward journey.
Air India flight 183 from Delhi to San Francisco made emergency landing in Russia after the pilots “detected a potential issue in the cargo hold area”, the airline said on Thursday.
The flight landed safely at Krasnoyarsk International Airport and all 225 passengers and 19 crew members were taken inside the airport terminal, according to the airline.
