Haryana, Maharashtra followed what Odisha began: PM Modi on BJP wins
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the BJP was the party of people’s choice because of the commitment to welfare and development, adding that the trend started by Odisha was followed by Haryana and now Maharashtra.
Speaking of the BJP-led NDA returning to power at the Centre for a record third time, Modi, speaking in Bhubaneshwar, said, “Where ever I go in the world, people wonder how a large country like India with 140 crore citizens continues to vote the same party term after term.”
The Prime Minister said the impact of BJP’s 2024 win is several times higher than in 2014 and 2019.
“Haryana, Maharashtra results have revealed the scale of trust the country has in the BJP. Odisha voted BJP and then Haryana and Manarashtra followed. BJP’s hallmark is people’s trust,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister said Opposition parties were peddling lies and propaganda against the BJP but the people, having seen the delivery of BJP dispensations, continues to bless it.
Without naming the Congress, Modi said of late the country was witnessing a tendency to use “lies and rumours as a tool to usurp power.”
“I urge every citizen who cares for the Constitution and democracy to stay alert to the politics of lies, deceit and rumours of these power-hungry people who are angry at the voters for choosing the BJP,” the Prime Minister said.
He said in politics issued-based criticism was natural and political parties have the right to go to the people with their views and ideologies and campaign for their stands.
“But for the past some time, we are witnessing a new trend, the trend of crushing the sentiment of the Indian Constitution and of rejecting democracy. Those who considered power their birthright lost power a decade ago and are angry with the people for rejecting them and choosing the BJP. This trend has filled these people (read the Congress) with such anger that they are now engaged in conspiring against the country,” Modi said.
He said these political parties were resorting to lies to mislead people.
“Their shop of lies and rumours has been open for very long and now they have activated their business more. For every conscious citizen, who loves the country and honours the Constitution and democracy, the acts, ideas and approaches of such people are a huge challenge. We must all stay alert and expose every lie,” the Prime Minister said.
He said power-hungry people had long been speaking lies to voters and giving false assurances to their own workers.
“These people just want to mislead the voters to capture power so that the masked gang that looted the country can once start its plunder,” Modi said in a blistering attack on the Congress-led Opposition.
He said BJP governments were succeeding because of focus on women, women-led development and delivery of guarantees.
