ED quizzes actor over Mahadev betting app
Film actress Tamannaah Bhatia is learnt to have been interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Mahadev betting app case in Guwahati on Thursday.
According to sources, Bhatia, who had reached ED’s Guwahati office along with her mother, was interrogated for reportedly promoting illegal viewing of IPL matches on a subsidiary version of the controversial app, called Fairplay.
The actress had also been summoned in connection with the same case earlier too. A number of film personalities have already been interrogated in connection with the case.
FairPlay is a betting exchange platform that offers a variety of sports and entertainment leisure gambling.
It is a subsidiary application of the Mahadev online gaming app, which also provides platforms for illegal betting in different live games like poker, tennis, cricket etc.
The Mahadev betting app made headlines last year when actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, who had appeared in advertisements for the app, were summoned by the ED for questioning.
The case had brought several other Bollywood celebrities under scrutiny following a crackdown on various betting and gaming apps by different agencies.
In October 2023, Shraddha was summoned by the probe agency in connection with the betting case.
