Dominica on Thursday announced the decision to bestow Prime Minister Narendra Modi with its highest national honour, The Dominica Award of Honour, a move Delhi described as an apt recognition of the PM’s leadership and solidarity with the Global South.

The Dominican Prime Minister announced the honour for PM Modi in recognition of his contributions to the country during the Covid-19 pandemic and his dedication to strengthening the partnership between India and Dominica.

PM Modi accepted the honour emphasising the importance of collaboration in tackling global challenges such as climate change and geopolitical conflicts and affirmed India’s commitment in working alongside Dominica and the Caribbean in addressing these issues. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar congratulated PM Modi on the award.
