A 33-year-old police head constable, identified as Tippanna, allegedly died by suicide on Friday night by jumping in front of a train in Byappanahalli, Bengaluru, police said on Saturday.
Techie suicide: kin seek pre-arrest bail
- The estranged wife of techie Atul Subhash and her family members have filed anticipatory bail pleas in Allahabad High Court in connection with a case of abetment to suicide.
- The petitioners include Nikita Singhania (wife), her mother Nisha Singhania, her brother Anurag Singhania, and her uncle Sushil Singhania. The Bengaluru City Police summoned Nikita Singhania on Friday.
Tippanna, who was posted at the Hulimavu police station, had returned home after completing his shift when a heated argument with his wife reportedly led to the tragic incident.
Before ending his life, Tippanna left a one-page death note written in Kannada, alleging harassment by his wife and father-in-law. In the note, he claimed that on December 12, his father-in-law had threatened him at 7:26 pm, saying, “Either die or be killed so that my daughter can live in peace.”
According to officials, Tippanna, who married in 2021, did not have any children. On the day of the incident, he worked an 8 am to 2 pm shift before returning home. After the argument with his wife, he left the house and later ended his life.
Railway authorities alerted the police, who dispatched a team to the spot. Based on the death note and initial investigation, a case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including abetment of suicide and criminal intimidation, against Tippanna’s wife and father-in-law.
